Welcome to the Kids Quiz - a fun, daily trivia quiz designed for kids between the ages of 8 and 18. Each day students are provided with a daily trivia quiz question about nutrition, health, physical activity, sports, and a host of other topics. Many of the questions students will have to guess at the answer. Students answering correctly are eligible to win a PEC T-shirt in a weekly drawing. The more times a student gets the answer correct during the week the better chance of winning the drawing.

Kidnetic.com is a cool site for kids like you — kids who like to play hard and have fun. Kidnetic.com lets you tap into your own energy so you can feel great all day long.  There's lots to do! Try making one of the fun Kidnetic.com recipes like "Brewed Monkey Brain Stew" (it's really chili, silly!) or make a "Groovy Grape Ape Smoothie." Use the Kidnector virtual messaging service to connect with your parents.  You'll also find fun games to play inside or outside, by yourself or with friends. We call these Wet Head games because you're supposed to get a "wet" head while you play them! Kidnetic.com tells you cool stuff about how your body works, how eating right helps you play better and feel good and how staying active is lots of fun!

* Looking for something fun to do with the kids?! Make up some popsicle sticks with different activities on them. Then pick a stick and perform the activity together. This can be done all at once or once an hour or a couple times a day! Be creative and have fun with it!

Let’s get into the mindset of our kids for a minute. What do you do when you are not at school? On the weekend? Yes, I’m sure video games and/or television are part of your answer, but hopefully you move some too! No, it doesn’t have to be a full on workout but movement activities are important. Here are some awesome activities for kids but I think parents/adults will have just as much fun. It will bring you back to your younger days for sure!

Crab races – in a crab position on your hands and feet, set a start and end point and have some races. Crab position is a great activity using your upper body and core strength to move yourself. You can race moving forward, backwards or for an added challenge try moving sideways!

Tag games – tag games can be an awesome cardiovascular activity! You can play good old fashioned freeze tag or make up your own rules. A great modification for tag is instead of freezing when you get tagged, do an activity like 10 jumping jacks, 5 push ups or 1 lap around your space. Make sure you are in a safe space so no one gets hurt. See who can go the longest without being tagged.

Jump rope or Chinese jump rope – when we were kids we all jump roped at some point. Whether it was by yourself or with a group, everyone did some type of jumping. Jump ropes are inexpensive and a great addition to any workout. Individual jump rope has all types of variations – backwards, side swing, cross over, double jump, and more. A long jump rope can be done slow, fast, or even using 2 ropes for double dutch. And how about that Chinese jump rope, you know the one that looked like a giant rubber band? Who remembers that pattern? 1, 2, 3, 4, in, out, in, ON! And then you move the rope up higher and try it again. I’ve even used Chinese jump ropes during my boot camp for something a little different.

What other kids games can you think of? Ask your kids, make something up and have fun with it! Being active doesn’t have to be structured for it to be effective. So don’t “work out” today ….. just go PLAY!
